This site is about a revolution…a revolution of impact over interest. But this is an uphill battle. I am not so naive at 52 to not realize that.
Why?
Because of blinders. Impact blinders that impede our noticing (or, being mindful of) universal calls to impact.
What are the impact blinders? There are many, but here’s a list of 10 that quickly come to mind:
1. Cultural blinders – culture generally tends to be quite colorful, but these blinders make us color blind…
2. Political blinders – we don’t pay much attention to anyone else’s “party”…
3. Religious Dogmatic blinders – once you put those on, it’s damn hard to get them off…
4. Attitudinal blinders – like pessimism and cynicism…small thinking ways of viewing a very large world…
5. Prejudicial blinders – we see color…but only one…ours…
6. Hereditary blinders – if it ain’t the way “we” do it…it just ain’t worth the doing…
7. Philosophical blinders – I think therefore I am (at the center of the universe)…
8. Psychological blinders – some people are just friggin nuts…
9. Socio-Economic blinders – really darling, we mustn’t allow ourselves to stoop…
10. Egotistical blinders – closely related to 7…
Being a revolutionary misfit is about taking off the impact blinders and expanding our full range of peripheral impact vision. But it takes practice.
Being a revolutionary misfit is about taking off the impact blinders and expanding our full range of peripheral impact vision.
Impact mindfulness is not a natural state. The above are. We have to fight against our natural inclination to do it the way it’s always been done.
That’ll get you branded a misfit sure enough…
But ain’t it grand!
